Lily Sturges is an Artist, Producer, DJ, and creative from LA.
Q: Tell us about yourself!
A: Grew up in LA, went to a Waldorf school for 10 years, started a shoegaze band in high school, played around LA, got into music production in 2023, started DJing, now fullt full-time artist, producer, and DJ.
Q: What has been the most rewarding part of making/writing music?
A: I love making people dance. I love making people happy and digging deeper into their feelings. I think the most powerful songs are the ones that make me think about my life experiences, and if I can do that and make someone have a realization, make them learn something about themselves, make their day a little bit better, that's gold.
Q: What is the inspiration behind your songs?
A: My past songs drew a lot from romantic relationships. I had a couple of dramatic situationships in high school that I take inspiration from. Love and heartbreak are the easiest feelings for me to write songs about, which is why recently I've been exploring more complex ideas for songs and will be moving in a more nuanced direction for my songwriting.
Q: What goals are you working towards right now?
A: I feel really excited to share these songs, some that I’ve teased already and even songs I’ve written within the past week that will eventually see the light of day. I also plan to be play live as much as I can this summer, and I have some really exciting shows planned already so I can’t wait
Q: What three songs do you think capture “you” the best for a first-time listener?
A: Save ME, Mystic Bitch, Boy LYFE. Save ME is probably my favorite mix I've done and is definitely a crowd pleaser. Mystic Bitch is a little weird and might be my favorite beat I've made so far, and Boy LYFE is my favorite songwriting I've done. I put a lot of thought into it, and I think it came out really well.
Q: What goals are you working towards right now?
A: Promoting the shit out of my album this summer, building my personal brand into something I can sustain for years and will stay consistently authentic to me, scaling my social media, and trying to figure out what kind of artist I will be in the increasingly online music industry. I am also working on another album I want to release next year, and really thinking about a future team that can help me grow.
Q: What advice do you live by?
A: Treat people the way you want to be treated; what goes around always comes back. The only thing you can control in life is yourself. Failure is impossible if you never give up. Do what you want because nothing is guaranteed. The years will pass anyway, so you might as well try. YOLO
